Hip hop

Groove, rhythm and choreography set to current music, open to dancers with no other style behind them.

From
$190 to $260
Runs
45-60 min class, weekly across a 10-week term

Hip hop is taught as its own vocabulary rather than jazz with different music: isolations, groove and musicality first, choreography built around the class's own strengths. It is the easiest class to walk into with no dance background at all.

What is included

  • No prior dance experience required
  • New choreography most terms
  • Battle and cypher games in senior grades
  • Optional showcase spot in the November concert

03Asked often

Before you book

Not here? It might be on the FAQ page, or the uniform guide.

Do I need any dance background for hip hop?

No. It is the class we most often recommend to a dancer who has never done a class before.

Is hip hop performed in the concert?

Hip hop classes have an optional showcase spot in the November concert; it is not compulsory the way the ballet and jazz streams are.
